Cone Beam Volumetric Tomography

Otherwise known as Cone beam CT, this is an innovative digital dental radiography technique that uses a cone-shaped radiation beam. It is more precise than panoramic dental radiography and can target the area to be observed to avoid exposing other parts of your skull to x-rays.

What is this technique?

The objective is the capture of 3D images of:

bones

teeth

cartilages

cranial structures

joints

TVFC allows us to explore the state of your jaws and the functioning of your temporomandibular joints (temples and jaws), and more specifically:

explore abnormalities in the development of your teeth (impacted or impacted teeth or malpositioned wisdom teeth)

visualize infection sites or cysts that may be present around your dental roots

measure the volume of bone available to place a metal dental implant

The procedure of the exam

The procedure is simple and painless.

We will ask you to sit in an examination chair and we will immobilize your head

The technologist will place soft rollers between your teeth to spread your jaws

Please be aware that the total time of your visit may vary between 15 and 30 minutes, although the actual examination will only last about 20 seconds. The examination will be painless.

To prepare for the exam, we ask you to:

remove any metal objects from your head (jewelry, piercing jewelry, hair ties)
