The enteroscan is an examination of the small intestine. It allows the evaluation of different diseases of the small intestine (Crohn's, anemia, or the search for lesions). Finally, it allows the realization of images of other abdominal and pelvic organs.

The procedure of the exam

The patient must arrive 60 minutes before the appointment time. We will ask you to put on a gown, remove your jewelry and any metal objects that could interfere with the quality of the images.

 - The patient will be given a liquid drink prepared by the technologist (lactose diluted in water).
 - The technologist will supervise the intake of the liquid. The solution is a laxative diluted in water.
 - The patient should start drinking the diluted solution 45 minutes before the appointment.
 - The solution should be drunk within 30 minutes.
 - Fifteen minutes before the start of the examination, the patient will have to lie on a stretcher on his right side to optimize the gastric emptying, if the patient has not finished drinking, he will be able to finish lying down.
 - The technologist will install a catheter to inject an iodine-based opacifier. You may also be given an antispasmodic medication.
 - The technologist will then place you on the examination table, which will move slowly through the ring-shaped opening. It will be important to remain still and to follow the breathing instructions. The examination lasts approximately 5 minutes.

A medial order is required to perform this examination.
